Aussie VoIP giant Buzz Broadband has revamped its network with the deployment of VoiceMAX broadband access solution believed to be the first ever commercial WiMAX solution in Australia from Airspan Networks to provide wireless VoIP and mobile services.
The upgraded network would enable Buzz Broadband to take its VoIP services to nearly 150,000 Australian customers. Until now, the VoIP service provider has used Airspan’s ASWipLL system with 22 base stations and backhaul links.
The ASWipLL system is a low cost Fixed Wireless Access system designed to deliver high-speed data, VoIP and multimedia services.
The present VoiceMAX broadband access solution is the major commercial WiMAX service, which Airspan says, fulfills the QoS requirements of the 802.16 WiMAX Forum standards.
The VoiceMAX solution controls VoIP traffic on a network. It also averts oversubscription of VoIP traffic and protects current traffic form mortifying in quality due to overlapping of an additional traffic.
Operating in the iTONE softswitch and VoiceMAX Server, the solution ensures operators to have complete control to allow, reject, change call parameters or disconnect VoIP calls.
