AT&T has announced an AT&T Unity Plan forming a calling community for the millions of US mobile customers. Under the new plan, they will be entitled to enjoy unlimited free calling services between their mobile and home phones for just $110 a month.
This is the first major announcement of AT&T after acquisition of BellSouth Corp on December 29 and consolidation of Cingular Wireless.
The unprecedented calling offer would come into force from Sunday forming a calling community of more than 100 million AT&T wireless and wireline phone numbers to hang over on home, business and wireless calling.
Announcing the new service, Edward E. Whitacre Jr., CEO of AT&T made a statement,
AT&T Unity is the ideal way to introduce our customers to the real power of combining wireless and wireline services into an appealing offering that delivers value, flexibility and convenience.
As per the new plan, the customers can make and receive free phone calls from any AT&T wireless and wireline phone numbers nationwide without incurring additional wireline usage fees or using their wireless anytime minutes.
A Reuter report adds that AT&T has now plans to club up wireless and fixed-line services to compete against cable TV providers.
