Bangladesh approves ildts policy 2007 so big thumb to voip

What could be the major recognition to VoIP than this one? After closely monitoring the VoIP market for the past several months, the government of Bangladesh has finally agreed to allow private players to start their VoIP operations in the country.

Giving first indication in this direction, the Bangladeshi government has approved the International Long Distance Telecommunications Services (ILDTS) Policy 2007, liberating VoIP market from the state monopoly.

According to ILDTS Policy 2007, the government will set up a three-tier telecommunications infrastructure involving international gateways to hook up to the submarine cable and interconnection exchanges. The second stage involves interconnection exchanges linked to the international gateways and access network service (ANS). The third stage calls for direct services to the customers through ANS.

The decision to grant VoIP licenses to private service providers will not only create conducive atmosphere for the growth of VoIP in Bangladesh but also in other Asian countries, who always have had bitter relation towards this technology.
