Just take the case of Japanese department store giant Mitsukoshi, which combined RFID technology with VoIP and made a difference.
The unique system is that the customers in the store scan RFID-tagged jeans and then use a VoIP phone of Cisco to check inventory and call departmental employees for more clothes to be brought in. By combining both these technologies, the Japanese store meets the need of the customers and track the stock.
The retailers using RFID technology is not new. However, combing RFID with VoIP is somewhat new, which Mitsukoshi implemented.
