Spyware masterminds have got through Skype web site to target the Turkish people, the US-based web security provider SurfControl exposed.
SurfControl reports that the Spyware scammers sent emails in Turkish-version, which entices the users to download the Skype application by clicking on an attached link. The link seems to be the Turkish version of the Skype Web site.
The bogus Skype site consists of a malicious file, skypekur.exe, pretending as Skype software. If worked out, the malware application installs multiple password recovery tools targeted to harvest passwords from IM applications, email clients and FTP programs on an infected user’s computer.
In the process, the users will lose their security information. With this exposure, the Skype service is likely to be badly affected in Turkey.
