Vonage said nearly 90% of its U.S. subscriber lines are now equipped with E911 (Enhanced 911) service.
The VoIP service provider has set up an additional 250 locally run E911 or emergency call centers throughout America in less than a month. With this, the total number of Vonage calling centers with E911 service has reached more than 5800. These call centers ensure E911 feature that automatically associates a physical address with the customer’s telephone number.
Upbeat Michael Snyder, CEO of Vonage said,
Today over 90 percent of our US subscribers lines have full E911 capability, which is a tremendous step for Vonage. The company will continue to work with the FCC, regulators, Congress and Public safety until PSAPs (a Public Safety Answering Point )across the nation are equipped with E911.
Vonage’s nomadic E911 solution enables subscribers to contact a PSAP or 911 centre in case of emergency. (See the counties covered during the last 15 days)
