In a major development in the mobile front, Ericsson has signed an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) contract with Vodafone Germany today. The deal apparently makes Ericsson as the sole IMS supplier for Ericsson Groups.
Under the deal, Ericsson will provide professional services to facilitate a successful network implementation, integration, consultancy, testing and support for the mobile operator.
Vodafone Germany has decided to use the IMS implementation for a range of converged fixed and mobile multimedia services for its 31 million subscribers in the country. The IMS platform brings number applications, such as VoIP, Mobile Messaging and Whiteboard for the customers.
As of now, Ericsson is top player in IMS market with 37 IMS contracts for commercial launch and nearly 80 additional trials in the world.
