Swedish telecom giant Ericsson has reached out an agreement with Vietnamese operator Saigon Postel Telecommunication Company (SPT) to deploy IMS-based multimedia network throughout the country.
IMS stands for IP Multimedia Subsystem standard that defines a comprehensive structure for offering VoIP and multimedia services. It also supports GSM, WCDMA, CDMA2000 and wireless broadband access and WLAN.
As per the agreement, Ericsson would play a pioneering role in the SPT’s nationwide network expansion and upgrade by offering its comprehensive range of professional telecommunication services.
Pham Ngoc Tuan, the president of SPT said,
We find Ericsson’s IMS solution suitable for our current and future requirements in evolving SPT network to all IP, providing us a good platform for efficient introduction of new multimedia services such as voice, data, audio and video.
