Vonage subscribers can now feel being liberated. It is so because Vonage Marketing and UTStarcom Inc. today launched the F1000. This is a portable Wi-Fi handset manufactured by UTStarcom and configured with Vonage’s VoIP phone service.
This will offer subscribers mobility across 802.11b networks enabling users to call from Any Open Access Wi-Fi hotspots.
The handset can now be bought at the Vonage website for $79.99 after an instant rebate of $50 on the original price of $129.99
The F1000 Wi-Fi handset is actually fantastically designed for both ultra-modern features and value. It will be configured with Vonage’s standard call features which include:
i. Three-way calling
ii. Call waiting
iii. Repeat dial on busy
iv. Call forwarding to user assigned number
v. Call hold/resume
vi. Voicemail
vii. Call rejecting/redial/mute
viii. Caller ID based on phone book entries.
In addition to the above, the handset will also have phone book favorites with distinctive ring options including silent, vibrate and selectable ring tones.
Users can also configure and save Wi-Fi profiles for ease of connectivity. The F1000 promises to support a robust battery that will provide 5 hours of talk time and standby of 50-100 hours. It will take 2 to 3 hours to recharge the battery.
