Millions of VoIP users in Dubai and UAE have a reason to cheer up. Finally, HeyU is taking a notable step to provide Skype service for them.
As noted earlier, Etisalat, the telecom provider of the country has blocked Skype site in Dubai pointing out VoIP is technically a telecom service. It comes under the purview of Etisalat. The VoIP service providers such as Skype, Vonage pose potential threat to the nation’s telecom service providers.
The blocking deprives Skype users to download Skype, upgrade Skype to the latest version or add credit to make SkypeOut calls.
Even though, the ban continues, side by side, HeyU’s networking is gaining momentum for its advanced software, which is capable of bringing Skype service for the Dubai customers.
Still, it is mysterious to know much about the HeyU’s Skype idea. As of now, it is acting like a proxy site. It insists Dubai customers to register in a UK-based website, Mathaba.net and get an email ID for HeyU that projects itself as an Asian group. HeyU seems to have no website of its own.
HeyU will send out an email with an unblocked link to download Skype for 20 to 50 euros payed through an e-payment site Paypal. In this way, customers can access the Skype service and bypass the Etisalat ruling.

That’s true. But the difference between HeyU’s service vs. the miscellaneous services, is that - it doesn’t break any law set by ETISALAT to monopolize over its users. It works within that the explanation has been set by ETISALAT for not providing VoIP services yet.
So, there you go.
