The patent lawsuit filed against Google over GoogleTalk by Rates Technology has prompted many people to think who holds the patents for what and who holds the most patents in a certain area of technology like VoIP.



Olga Kharif in her blog put a question before us if there is a company that holds the most patent where VoIP is concerned as Qualcomm who holds the most patents when it comes to the latest wireless phone chips.



Now that an obscure company like Rates Technology has come up with the patent suit against Google, she thinks that influential patent holders in VoIP will not be IP giants like Cisco or Nortel but some obscure companies that we are yet find out about.



I don’t have an iota of doubt on what Olga says. But I have to agree that I am not aware of who the most patent holder would be when it comes to VoIP.
