Hutchison Whampoa which operates a number of third generation (3G) mobile phone networks in Asia and Europe has collaborated with the leading industries to offer subscribers a bundle of broadband services including Skype, Sling TV, Orb Mycasting, web browsing and Yahoo! Instant Messaging, Microsoft’s Live and Google.
The company terms it ‘Internet X-Series service‘, which would be available for the UK customers initially from the first of next month.
Skype is one of the strategic partners for the X-Series Service. It would provide software assistance to Hutchison for the VoIP services.
Under X-Series Service, the UK customers would enjoy “free” Skype-to-Skype calls on their mobile phones. However, they have to wait few months to access SkypeOut and SkypeIn services.
Initially, the X-Series services would be offered on the two handsets, the Nokia N73 and the Sony Ericsson W950i.
