IPFones becomes the first company to offer customers in the US clear, high-quality calls over the Internet via a handheld telephone.
Until now, most people making calls by way of the Internet were forced to use low-grade microphones and computer speakers that made conversations choppy and complicated. Users didn’t complain much as they didn’t expect much from a free service.
Now IPFones who recently entered the US market has changed this. It is the first internet telephony firm to offer a USB handset for VoIP telephone calls through Skype.
It must be mentioned that the design was specifically developed for full integration and compatibility with Skype. Many features included in it are not available with standard headsets or microphones commonly used for these calls.
The developments in VoIP applications are really taking rapid strides. Though to some, it may have come a bit later than expected, one has to appreciate the fact that cutting service charges to almost dirt-levels for gaining market share isn’t exactly the way forward to move as it leaves little or no room for innovation or development.
Anyway, now that an USB device can be connected to the PC to make or receive calls of high quality, can we see a mouse with an inbuilt mic and speaker to beep/blink when a call is made so that we can just pick it up when a call comes through?
Yes! It is indeed possible. Some VoIP handset maker must be thinking along those lines now. *heh*
