Jupiter Research has found that 52% of consumers are willing to switch pay TV services if they could get a better price for the same channel selection. In the report titled IPTV: Simple Benefits, Not New Technology, Most Effectively Compete Against Cable, the research company has revealed what consumers regard as the most important elements in pay TV services, and challenges phone companies and others face as they begin to deploy competitive offerings.

The research also states that as a result of cheaper prices, the option of a la carte channel selection proved the second strongest motivator for switching pay TV services which attracted 46% of the consumers. Only 6% consumers showed interest in high definition programming and only about 3% of the consumers were attracted to a greater selection of VoD service.
