The magic device looks like a matchbox and works like a phone jack for the PC enabling both residential and business enterprises plug in their existing phones to make cheap local and long-distance calls.
Unlike Skype and other popular VoIP start ups, MagicJack does not require any headphone to be attached to your PCs for VoIP services. It provides a number of services such as call waiting, 911 service, conference calling and voice mail. It has a FollowMe feature that forwards calls to other phone numbers when a person is offline.
The price of MagicJack is around $40. The company provides one subscription to YMax’s phone service those who purchase MagicJack. YMax phone service brings a personal phone number, 911 service and voice mail services to the customers. They can also enjoy free International calling to US/Canada numbers when traveling outside of the US.
As of now, the MagicJack supports Windows XP and Vista operating system. The company will soon launch its Mac version.

Amazing how many users are willing to accept adware programs, especially when they have to PAY for those programs. Read their terms of service policy, section 11, Advertisements. Their magicPage software that must run on your host is adware. Oh joy, you get to pay for spam.

Undoubtedly, the incidence of the magic jack provides a hopeful alternative and works wonders for us in the Philippine islands that we could get in touch with friends and relatives in north America and elsewhere.

MAJIC JACK IS THE MOST DISAPPOINTING PRODUCT I HAVE EVER USED. THE VOICE IS ALWAYS STUTTERING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON EXISTENT. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT UNTIL ALL COMPUTERS ARE SUPPORTED AND THEY GET A REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE DPET. INSTEAD OF THE INCOMPETENT BOOBS THEY CURRENTLY USE. ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10 THEY GET A -5
It would be nice to be able to access with headset and microphone on the computer, rather than the telephone only.
Best damn computer based telephone product I’ve ever used. Am a former Skype user and dropped them when they started automatically billing me despite my requests that they cancel my account and they would not. It took a damn act of congress to get them to back the hell off. Magicjack simply works and is the cheapest alternative around. I call all over the U.S. and Canada for less than $20/YEAR. Why wouldn’t people love this product (unless they are fragging ice hole idiots?!!!!

Thank you to the first commenter that pointed out the fact that you must agree to run adware on your computer. I almost got rid of my current VOIP provider to order one of these, but sure am glad that I didn’t!
I tried this at a friends in the states and I loved it... really very cool and well worth the $40.
It’s a good tool but most people don’t like to keep their computer on. Also, the customer service is horrible. CompareVoip.com has a list of VoIP alternatives to MagicJack and even Skype. It is completely separate from your computer and the customer service is great.
Also VoIP services are portable.
