The wait is almost over. Microsoft has finally announced that it is releasing its much-hyped VoIP software for public beta this month.

The VoIP software consists of a number of latest applications, such as Office Communication Server 2007, VoIP and Unified Communications Server, Office Communicator 2007 and Unified Communications Client.

With this announcement, the software giant is all set to bring revolution in the global telecom sector the way it brought revolution in computer world by launching Windows Operating System.

At the same time, Microsoft’s entry into VoIP market puts tremendous threat to the all-ready shackled traditional telecom service providers as well as established VoIP players.

Over the years, we have perceived Microsoft’s Live Communications as Corporate Messaging and Presence, rather VoIP services. With the launch of Office Communication Server 2007, Microsoft will provide VoIP service in its every applications including Word, Excel etc.

In other words, we can click a name from a Word document or Excel spreadsheet and lead our VoIP conversations. The Outlook Express and Sharepoint would support the VoIP services.
