I have read Tony Dennis’s post in the INQUIRER about the possible security threats of VoIP. In fact, the post was based on the report submitted by the research firm Ferris Research which claims that mobile phones that offer VoIP services is not safe and vulnerable to spamming.
Ferris Research points out that VoIP is just like an Internet MAC address that can be used a telephone number to make a regardless Internet calls instantly. These calls can carry Spam Voice messages, which would intruder in the users’ Voice Mailbox.
The spamming mailbox would become the cause of phishing or Vishing attacks. The hackers will be able to access the VoIP numbers of the customers and entice them to provide their confidential information.
