NEC Corporation has installed NEC’s IP telephony system and broadband network at Tokyo’s newest hotel, Mandarin Oriental. The IP system is capable of servicing the hotel’s 650 IP phones and 1,300 IP ports which includes its 179 guestrooms and suites. This system is built around NEC’s flagship UNIVERGE SV7000 which provides a broadband platform with advanced security features.
The hotel is using this platform to provide the most up to date IT environment for business travelers in the comfort of their rooms. It is also allowing Mandarin Oriental to offer wireless and wired high speed internet connections throughout the entire hotel as well as support the hotel’s IP based HD VOD service.
