Vonage America says that it will endorse the National Emergency Number Association’s (NENA) Interim VoIP Architecture for Enhanced 911 Services (or i2).

Jeffrey A. Citron, chairman and CEO of Vonage Holding Corp., Vonage America’s mother company said;

Until now, the implementations were disparate, varying country by country, locality by locality.Now, the uniform i2 standard puts network owners, service providers, VPCs, and public safety on the same page.
NENA’s i2 standard is a system that allows IP telephony service providers to deliver complete E911 services through existing infrastructure until an all-IP E911 system becomes available nationwide.
