In contrast to my early post where I agreed VoIP still faces sound problems, Skype and Global IP Sound have come together to resolve the issue. They have mutually agreed to share their resources to provide better quality Calls for mobile phone users who lean on Skype.
Although, both companies have had good strategic relationship, this one is very promising. As per the deal, San Francisco- based Global IP Sound (GIPS) would license its widely tested and appreciated GIPS VoiceEngine software to manufacturers of Skype compatible devices such as mobile handsets and ATAs (analog telephone adapters).
The company explains GIPS Voice Engine is a comprehensive, packaged solution distinctively designed for PC applications. It is available in two configurations, GIPS VoiceEngine PC Advanced and VoiceEngine PC Standard. It would enrich voice quality in the VoIP service.
