Converged VoIP is now order of the day. It would dominant 2007 VoIP industry. In UK, the business enterprises are turning towards this service to improve the efficiency and flexibility of their communication system.

Observing market demand for converged services, Nortel and BT have signed a landmark deal to offer VoIP, multimedia, instant messaging and mobile communications for UK enterprises under a common platform.

According to the three-year deal, the two software giants would converge voice and data networks into a single network and develop new systems in line with Nortel’s portfolio and BT’s networked IT services.

Mike Zafirovski, the President and CEO at Nortel commented,

People are increasingly using Internet-based video, instant messaging and voice communications at home and on the move.It’s vital that industry leaders like BT and Nortel demonstrate the benefits that similar capabilities can bring within enterprises and organizations.

The new agreement that envisages convergence of multiple voice and data networks into single IP network would fulfill BT’s mission to provide cost effective communication services for the customers.
