Satisfied with its free service initiatives in North America, Skype has now extended a similar kind of offer for the French-based Skype users.

Now the Skypers in France with a broadband internet connection can make unlimited SkypeOut calls to landlines in France free from September 7 to December 31, 2006.

With this announcement, France has emerged as the first European country to enjoy free Skype services. Previously, the Skype users of this country used to pay for the SkypeOut service that enabled them to make calls from their PCs to traditional landlines.

Skype has also made calls between from one Skype software account to another across the world completely free.

Skype, which has registered more than 113 million subscribers, expects free calling to all landlines in France will expand Skype’s increasing penetration into the French broadband market.
