
Skype has beaten MSN, Google Talk and Yahoo! Messenger and claimed the most popular messaging and VoIP program in the world, a recent online poll asserted.
The result of the online poll that involved participation of about 500 broadband users has been published on the front page of the MyADSL/MyBroadband website.
Skype has been rated as the most popular application with 52 percent of the total votes.MSN occupied the second position with 29 percent votes, followed by Gtalk with 11% of votes. While, Yahoo! Messenger and other such IM applications received only eight percent of the total votes.
The opinion poll shows the strong base of the top three applications in South African market than any other applications.
In case of Skype, it is the cheap VoIP calls to the UK, Australia and New Zealand that attracted maximum number South African users towards Skype than MSN and Gtalk.
As known better, many South Africans have friends and relatives in these countries. With state-run Telkom charging a high rate for international calls, the South African customers find Skype as the best option for long distance calls.
