Skype brings complete freedom to move for its customers. Yes, the leading internet phone provider has extended the VoIP service in Wi-Fi phones.
Skype has announced the launch of three new Wi-FI phones loaded with Skype Internet calling software. The VoIP giant will market these phones from Belkin, EdgeCore and SMC on its Web site.
Skype Wi-Fi phones are preloaded with Skype software for free International calls. The unique feature of the Skype Wi-Fi phone is that it enables Skype users to call the fellow Skypers without using PCs because handsets will automatically synchronize to a Skype account and its contacts, and operate when in range of a Wi-Fi hot spot. The Skypers can access this service without any cost. However, they need to spend nominal rates while making calls to traditional landlines and mobile phones.
Infonetics Research report reveals that Wi-Fi Phone market is on a rise touching $125.5 million between 2004 and 2005. The market would grow steadily in the coming years. Especially the Single-mode Wi-Fi VoIP handsets would continue to penetrate the enterprise market. Perhaps, it is this perception, which made Skype to ally with Netgear to develop Wi-Fi VoIP phones.
