norton-anti-virus_28 In an effort to bring secure VoIP in a corporate networking, Skype has joined hands with web security firm, Symantec Corp to provide PC security solutions both to its residential and business customers.

Under the deal, Skype has certified Symantec’s Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus 2007.

These two products are highly essential for forming a secure networking by preventing phishing scams.

In a statement Kurt Sauer, Skype’s Chief Security Officer said,

Skype has always been focused on providing a secure environment for its community of more than 171 million users, so they can safely make calls, send instant messages and transfer files.

Last year, Skype had signed a similar deal with McAfee and certified a number of McAfee products including McAfee Internet Security Suite 2006, McAfee VirusScan 2006 and McAfee Personal Firewall 2006.

Despite forming a global community for its renowned VoIP service, the general perception towards Skype remains same.

Some countries still consider Skype’s P2P software disrupts secure corporate networking. The agreement with Symantec may help Skype to build a clear image.
