Although Skype has registered nearly 23 million users in China, the popular VoIP service is now facing restriction in some areas, says Tom Online.
The expurgation on text messing services and security concerns on Skype services, has forced Tom Online not to provide Skype services in certain areas of the country.
Tom Online, the mobile internet company of China explains it is now unable to provide its ‘call to landline service’ because of China’s monopoly on Telecom service providers.
Tom explains,
In the past year, our development has been very smooth, the increase has been fast, especially in the past several seasons. Honestly, the increase in use is beyond our expectations.
In fact, Tom-Skype joint venture has been proved very successful in China. They are very close to sign up 25 million Skype users. However, the block to Skype service may obstacle the growth of Skype in the country.
