Better late than never. This is what Skype’s approach towards Linux. Finally, Skype has made an Alpha release of Linux 1.4 version. While, Skype 3.1 version is available for Windows users and 2.6 beta for Mac users.

Skype had released 1.3 Linux version last year. Now, we have 1.4 Alpha version for the same. It is Alpha. That means the software is still in work. It is available for the experts only.

There are a number of missing features in the 1.4 Linux. It includes Contact List Groups, unable to create new accounts, non-availability of packaged versions and undelivered chat messages are not shown.

It also does not support older versions of Linuxes’ OSS and the API and ‘Find’ feature in chat does not possess any activation keys.

Some of the major additions in the latest Linux version are better audio quality, user friendly, separate windows for calls and common window for file transfers.
