A London-based company, Oregan Networks announced that they are enabling the Skype features like message alert and Caller ID on standard television sets.
The company is specialized in embedded solutions for cable companies and consumer electronics brands. It means that the company is making software for set up boxes.
The system will allow the user to make alert on incoming call or message. However, the system is not Skype certified, so company did not collaborate with the peer-to-peer phone company to develop the system.
The Skype functionality is part of the company’s Media Browser software that incorporates a TV browser, IPTV client and a DLNA player and server. It is based on open standards for web content authoring and distribution.
