Despite expurgation on text messaging services and security concerns on Skype services, Tom Online-Skype joint venture is getting overwhelming response in China.
According to this source, Skype has been registering nearly 100,000 new users every day in China since last three months.
Tom-Skype is very close to 25 million mark in Chinese VoIP market. They have registered approximately 23.5 million users by the end of October, 2006. It is an increase of more than eight million from the end of July.
Chinese premier mobile internet company Tom Online that joined hands with Skype last year to provide VoIP services in the country has blocked political sensitive phrases in Chinese text messaging and SkypeOut services following the Chinese Telecoms regulations.
