skype woos paying customers

In a resounding move to maintain its brand image following the infamous Skype outage that denied VoIP services to million of customers for the two days last week, Skype has now announced a week long free VoIP services to woo the paying customers.

The paying customers include Skype Pro, Skype Unlimited, SkypeIn and Skype Voicemail subscribers. The customers who could not make call due to Skype network problem last week will enjoy seven days of free VoIP services.

A Skype spokeswomen, Imogen Bailey was quoted while announcing the company’s plan,

As a goodwill gesture to all you faithful Skype Pro, Skype Unlimited, SkypeIn or Skype Voicemail customers, we’re adding an additional seven days to your current subscription free of charge,” the e-mail said. “And even if you didn’t miss out on using Skype last week, you can still have a week free on Skype, on the house.

For the first time, Skype’s P2P network went offline for about 30 hours last week due to the massive restart of PCs by users for Windows updates. Nearly 220 million Skype users could not make VoIP calls. Though, Skype took some immediate steps to restore the network, but the problem at once threatened to mar Skype’s corporate image.
