I had been literally inundated with mails from people all over mainly asking me what VoIP really is and how they can benefit from VoIP. Though they seem to understand the basic definition of VoIP, the technicalities and the business behind VoIP tend to get lost on them. At least that is what my understanding says. For the layman who will use VoIP tomorrow, company news or how exactly the protocols work or nitty-gritty about codecs doesn’t hold much interest unless of course he has a technical bent of mind or is really curious or those things explained to them in easy and understandable language.
There is a lot of information available on the net on VoIP where most of them are highly technical or discusses the business. The VoIP tutorials and guides that I had been seeing of late have become obsolete.
Therefore, I have decided to start a series called ‘VoIP for Masses‘ for those who want to know what VoIP is all about, how can they benefit from VoIP with technical and the business aspects related to VoIP and the industry thrown in every now and then in as simple words as I possibly can.
The pundits may find this as old news and common knowledge being boringly repeated. However, I shall write on this every now and then with the hope that it helps the layman who reads this blog in understanding different facets of VoIP.
