The Internet users of UAE have expressed their deep concerns at the incumbent telecos Etisalat’s hard steps that deprive them to access VoIP services in the country.
After unsuccessful in blocking Skype in UAE, Etisalat, the internet service provider of the country is now targeting the SIP traffic using a packet filter technology.
As we know, the packet filter technology is the most convenient technology than the port blocking which was used in the past. It is very easy to break the barriers of port blocking as it can be changed at the client end. However, packet filtering is a permanent block to data transfer, but not for the Skype.
Established facts show that Etisalat is itself a VoIP user depending as much as 40 percent of its international calls across VoIP gateways. Still, it gears up to block VoIP services.
It appears like that the state-run telecom service provider considers the existence of foreign VoIP service providers pose potential threat for its growth.

Not surprising, since Islam is so fashionate to ban everything.
You are wrong David
Dear Farooq Rafique,
I feel your sentiments. I too upset over the blockade. the governement should lift this ban very soon keeping interest of the millions of VoIP customers.
@Macky,
In fact, it is quite embarrassing to ban VoIP services in UAE. Etisalat’s stand on VoIP is quite condemnable. If Etisalat wants to control the offshore service providers, it is not the definitive step to ban them. The incumbent telecoms should bring changes in the telecom policy where users can enjoy VoIP under the scanner of Etisalat.
David. You are so prejudiced against Islam that cannot see beyond your nose. What does Islam have to do with this issue?
David must be from the US. He is an Islam buster.
(Lord Forgive David, for he does not know the TRUTH.)
It has been proved scientifically that 911 is an inside job. But the American media avoids it. pls check google for 911 lies, 911 truths and videos. Still blaming the Afghans riding on donkeys and camel for the attacks . Must see the showbiz interview of Charlie Sheen. Also seen documentary LOOSE CHANGE. Check google video
Spread the word . AMERICA fought war on innocent women children and men. Truth will be out one day.
Guys,
I got the solution, for 999 Dirham you got a new IP phone with $150 Credit and it is working. the good news is you can return the phone if it get blocked withen 30 days of purchase.
Need it for business and need multi port gateway, for 3250 Dirham you can gey 4 ports gateway (one of them could be FXO to make your calls from outside office) with $500 Credit and again you may return the device if it get blocked withen 30 days.

No one can block Voip. Get your dialing software downloaded from any silent surfing website and do the rest. On my PC phoneserve as well as Skype working very well.
It is tru no one can block voip in UAE or any where I have all of them working Skype/Phoneserve/Net2phone/My Webcall/Sipgate/Inphonex/Voiptalk/ and many many others, it is just a matter of tunneling that would beat your ISP just like a frog killing an elephant when it enters his or her trunk, the best I have tried so far is RealTunnel which works very well with sip Voip and it is for free, so you dont need expensive Vpn, I am only left with an Ip Phone which I still can not make it register, if any one knows the trick without paying any fees please let me know, at the meantime I am very fine with my softphones they are super clear.
