
A TeleGeography report is another indicator to show how VoIP is gaining popularity in the USA. In its latest report, the research firm claims that the number of VoIP customers of America increased 21 percent, to 6.9 million in the Q2 of the current year.
The VoIP service has recorded a remarkable growth marking a 153 percent gain in comparison with mid-2005. However, the second quarter rise was little bit low than the first quarter. The first quarter witnessed 28 percent, the TeleGeography report adds.
The report explains VoIP revenue grew 175 percent, to $607 million throughout the USA. The VoIP revenue was $221 million last year.
Cable TV companies have also increased their customers’ base this year. The report says that Cable TV companies account for 60 percent of VoIP subscribers. In other words, it is 4.1 million subscribers up from 52 percent in mid-2005.
