While Verizon’s patent case against Vonage is in furious debate in the Silicon Valley, the US-based VoIP service provider has won the two-year old mobile spam case against Marketing LLC that allegedly sent spam messages to Verizon’s mobile customers.

Charles Henderson-owned Marketing LLC has reportedly sent more than 100,000 unwanted text messages to the Verizon wireless customers promoting holiday packages to Bahamas.

Giving the judgment, the US District Court in Trenton, N.J has ordered Marketing LLC to stop sending spam messages and pay damages to the tune of $200,000 to Verizon Wireless.

Initially, Verizon filed the suit against the Passport Holiday in October 2005 claiming the company sends spamming messages to its customers to promote their business. However, the Passport Holiday stated that the messages were sent by Marketing LLC. Then, Verizon removed the case against Passport Holiday and filed against Marketing LLC.

The court ruling assumes significant in controlling the spammers who send unwanted messages to the mobile phone users.
