According to a study by Wanadoo, VoIP will be the ‘must have‘ service in 2006. The number of people planning to sign up for VoIP services is growing much rapidly than one could have anticipated in UK. So much so, that by 2006 there would be ten million Britons using VoIP services.
Not only this, the study predicts that more than half of web users in the UK will make phone calls via the net by 2010.
Ironically, according to Wanadoo’s findings, VoIP will be the most popular among people in their 50s with 25% predicted to adopt the new technology.
In Scotland, 32% of web users will use VoIP to make personal calls.
Wanadoo’s UK managing director of sales and communications, Philip Mehl said:
Every year has its iconic gadgets and technology, in 1986, it was the car phone and 1996 was the web. With VoIP calls trend set to continue into 2006, Brits need look no further for the latest technology must-have.Was there any doubt really about how popular VoIP will be? In fact, by the end of next year, VoIP will be an integral part of Internet usage like surfing the net, downloading etc.
