In a report, the research firm IDC foresees that residential US VoIP subscribers will reach to 44 million in 2010 from 10.3 million in 2006 to 44 million in 2010.
The report entitled US Residential VoIP Service 2006-2010 Forecast and Analysis: Where There Is Smoke, Is There Fire? looks into the current trend of VoIP market in US. IDC predicts 62 percent of broadband homes will access VoIP services very soon.
Like IDC, other market reports also assert that VoIP is gaining momentum everywhere and customers (both residential and business enterprises) are very keen to replace the VoIP phones to the traditional landlines. The low cost-VoIP calls attract more customers towards the VoIP services.
However, the manufacturers should get ready to face tough competition in the market in the coming days because they will be forced to bring down the prices for VoIP service.
