Yahoo VoIPWell, we had been anticipating this for quite sometime now, isn’t it? Anyway, the wait is now over. From yesterday, March 22, 2006, Yahoo! has started to allow downloads of the new Yahoo! IM Client for Windows with full inbound and outbound VoIP capabilities.

Now like Skype, users will be able to receive call from, and make calls to, any normal telephone.

Let’s check the price and see how that fare against Skype:

• Phone Out: Call normal phone numbers in 180 or so countries from your PC. Pricing starts at $0.02 per minute.

• Phone In: (for U.S., France and UK users only) - Receive calls on your PC from traditional and mobile phones for $2.99 per month or $29.90 per year.

• Free Voicemail: Free voicemail for inbound calls, and voicemail messages are linked from Yahoo Mail.

So, we can see that the price is very competitive to Skype. This client was available for quite sometime though for download in India. [If I remember it correctly, I downloaded this way back in Feb this year.]

Also, I just saw this small message in the download page in Yahoo!
