Starting in November, MySpace’s 110 million active users will use Skype-enabled MySpace’s instant messaging client, MySpaceIM for free calling. This is the first time that Skype has allowed its technology to be integrated with a 3rd-party application.

MySpace users with a Skype account will be able to call members with a single click. Standard PC-to-PC phone calls will be free but users will have to pay for ‘premium’ options like their own personal phone number, voice mail, call forwarding, and the ability to make calls from a computer to land lines or cell phones. In addition, the integration of MySpace and Skype will allow MySpace users to transfer information, such as portraits, from their profiles to their Skype accounts. Users who have set their MySpace profile in ‘private’ will not receive any Skype call from someone who is not on their friend list.

After completing five months of testing, Skype has now officially announced the launch of its latest Linux version i.e. Linux 1.4. The most important feature of Linux 1.4 is better sound quality, which was missing in the early version.

The VoIP startup has also patched up other bugs found in Linux 1.3.

Perhaps, Skype is the only VoIP application, which is fully compatible to Mac, Windows and Linux operating system. Of course, it is not so prompt in updating the Linux version in comparison to other operating systems.

Skype 1.4 for Linux is now available for eight distributions, including Ubuntu, Fedora 6 and 7, Debian, and MEPIS. System requirements include 256MB RAM, 20MB free disk space, 400MHz processor, Qt 4.2.1, and D-Bus 1.0.0.

It is classy example to prove what VoIP can do for social networking and online dating activities. WooMe, which goes by the tag line ‘meet 5 people in 5 minutes‘, has harnessed the power of VoIP technology to provide its members an effective means of communication.

At the very outset, WooMe is a unique dating site where users can crate their own sessions based on their interests. The sessions are aimed at providing live audio-video interactions to the users where they can share their varied experiences on different interesting topics.

The unique feature of WooMe is that it does not ask users to reply a number of questions or insist them to compile lengthy application form for registration. There is also no need to download any special software to run the application. It is simple and free.

At WooMe, you can develop personal relationship. For instance, you like a person after talking to him/her. You can get the contact detail of that particular person by paying just $1. However, the person must also interest in developing relationship with you.

Any way, it’s the cheap way to get your loved ones. All I can say the blending of VoIP in social networking can definitely make a difference.
